Some Tips On Personal Accessories Required While In Nepal

When choosing clothes for your stay in Nepal, you have to consider the season in which you will be in Nepal and the height at which you will travel. At 4000 or 5000 meters altitude, the weather is always cold. It is advisable to wear loose shirts for protection from weather and the sun.

Quick Dry Pants are recommended to use because of the unpredictable weather at extreme conditions. Wind proof and waterproof jackets are recommended at high altitudes. Some light socks and for the rainy / monsoon season, umbrella has to be carried.

If you plan to trek without a porter, then you can carry a backpack between 35 and 50 liters for approximately 4 day long walks. The weight depends on the attitude of your destination; so it is best not to exceed 10 kilos at most. If done with a backpack carrier with approximately 15 liters is enough for personal accessories. A waterproof cover for your bags can be very handy for the rainy season.

When you are trekking in Nepal, Flash-light , a knife or razor, sunglasses, cream or sunscreen, a first aid kit(not essential if you go with a guide), a compass (if you’re alone alone), water bottle and a visor or cap for the sun have to be carried at all times.

The trekking canes are not necessary but can help to improve balance and weight distribution. In some popular trails, the trekkers don’t need to carry blankets or sleeping bags because there are plenty of inns or hotels on the way. If you are feeling adventurous and are trekking without a guide, you have to carry an updated map of the area with you. Finally, do not forget your camera and spare batteries!!!
