To reach Annapurna base camp, you have to go to Pokhara
first. Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) is about 4100 meters in height. Annapurna
Circuit and Everest Base Camp Treks are two of the most popular routes for
trekking in Nepal.
You don’t have to carry Sleeping bags, tents, stoves or
food, as trekkers spend the nights in small inns (tea houses). About twenty
dollars a day is easily enough for meals and overnight stay. The best way to
enjoy diner in the inns is the local way which consists of wooden ovens and
Nepali cuisine.
Those going to Annapurna Sanctuary stay in the inns.
Pedestrians are advised to avoid houses that use firewood for heating and
cooking; extensive treeless patches reveal the cause.
In recent years, the houses are beginning to offer a wider
food list and kiosk products, such as beer and potato chips. This has been
found to have effects on both the inn for the environment. While the inn
charges extra for the transportation cost, the environment has been getting
polluted lately. And it is hard to get rid of the waste in such an extreme
climate.
You should avoid the kiosk goodies and stick to simple
dishes, such as a local delicacy dal bhat; the food of Nepalese. It can be
easily prepared in inns. Reward yourself with a beer until after the trip, or
at least carry your bottle away. As a measure to encourage eco-tourism, you can
help decrease the waste levels.
Accommodation and food prices are not always appropriate,
because the guest houses price level is defined by regional authorities. The
higher you go, the more expensive the prices will get; mostly because of the
difficulties involved in transportation. However, you will be pleased to find
the people of the Himalayas polite and mannered.
Annapurna circuit offers the most beautiful views of the
nature. The mountain ranges and the remote villages are unique and offer you a
great experience.
